Planning
There are approximately 1,194 people living in the Haven area and growing, but it is estimated that the Haven catchment area, including McKenzie Creek, Bungalally and Horsham South, is likely to be in the vicinity of 4,000 people.
Haven has the highest state percentage of young families living in the area, proving that Haven is a great place to live.
There are 100+ students attending the Haven Primary School (increasing each year) and around 80 senior and junior tennis members plus learners.
The community hall is used in excess of 500 times a year with a number of user groups linked to the hall and reserve – Art & Craft, Rock n Roll, Haven Bush Playgroup, Haven Tennis Club, Haven Market, Horsham Soccer Club, Fit4You fitness group and Horsham Dog Obedience. The hall is also hired out for private functions including weddings, 21st birthdays, other special birthdays, children’s birthday parties, anniversaries, reunions, business seminars and training sessions, a voting poll, and other events.
The hall is also used as a Relief Centre in the event of a disaster
Haven’s twenty-three-acre recreation reserve continues to be under precinct planning. The aim of the Haven Community Precinct Plan is to identify a clear direction for the further development of community facilities in Haven, arising out of demonstrated need. One of the main demonstrated needs is for the old public hall to be replaced with a new Community Centre.
The Haven Market has been running since 2007 and was originally a fundraising activity to help with improvements on the reserve. The Market has been set up to help raise money for our new Community Centre along with any other community events or projects.
A petition organised in 2013 had more than 600 signatures supporting planning for improved facilities at the reserve.
